Hello again! 充電完了!!

With KAT-TUN finally back in action and Jin making up for not touring last year by touring twice this spring, we thought it might be best for all concerned to have a summer exchange this year. Of course, that was before we knew that KAT-TUN would also be touring at the end of the summer… ^__^

BUT. In the meantime, while we all look forward to more pirate badassery, we are proud to announce Hide and Seek: Eternal Purple Turtle Pirates Happy Style Akame Fic Exchange 2018!

We’ll be putting out a sign-up post on Friday, June 15, so keep an eye out for that. For now, here are the details…

The fic will be:

• A standalone story of at least 2000 words.
• About Akame, or an Akameish pairing your recipient has specified.
• Submitted by the deadline. If you don't submit your fic by the deadline, we'll have to go looking for pinch hitters. Don't make us do that. Imagine what Kame would say.
• No shota/chan.
• Must be beta-read at least for spelling and grammar.
• Will use standard English rules for dialogue punctuation. (See FAQ. See also frameofmind6's battle scars from past fandoms.)
• In the tradition of most fic exchanges, fic will be anonymous until reveals. Before the reveals post is up, please do not repost your fic elsewhere or reveal your identity!

The Schedule

Sign-Ups: Friday, June 15 – Wednesday, June 27 Saturday, 30 June (24:00, UTC) [updated]
Assignments Sent Out: Tuesday, July 3
Writing Period: Wednesday, July 4 – Monday, Sept. 3
Fics Due: Monday, Sept. 3 (24:00, UTC)
Posting & Reveals: Early September

Now’s your chance to guess the writers!

You don’t have to be a participant to play—this game is open to everyone, whether you wrote for the exchange or you’re just here to read. (Only the mods are ineligible, because we already know who wrote everything. : ) If you want to make a guess, just leave a comment and try to match up as many of the authors with their stories as you can—whoever gets the most right wins this year’s Exclusive Prize of Sparkles, Honor, and Glory!

Comments on this post will be screened until reveals, so you don’t have to worry about giving yourself away in your comment. And as usual, we don’t want to discourage people from commenting on stories, so we operate on the honor system—no tallying up all the comments to narrow down which stories belong to who. (Anyway you never know, someone might leave a red herring to throw you off the trail…)

Let the games begin! Reveals will go up next Sunday…

All of the stories for this round have now been posted! We hope you’re basking in all the lovely Akame just as much as we are. Thanks again to all of our writers for all your hard work and for the lovely crop of stories! This exchange wouldn’t exist without you, and we hope everyone is enjoying all the presents!

Participants and readers, we encourage you to show the authors some love if you've liked a story! We will be putting up a guessing-game post this weekend for anyone who wants to see if they can match up authors with their fics. (You’re on the honor system, mind—no cheating and cross-checking who commented on what… >___>) You’ll have until Sunday 23 April to keep reading, commenting, and making guesses before the authors are revealed. The winner will receive the coveted prize of Sparkles and Glory!

Happy reading!

Title: Duty Calls
Written for: kaminikaku
Pairing: Akame
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 4,421
Warnings: Complete ignorance of what Kame and Jin's schedules are actually like. Possible unintentional OOCness.
Author's Notes: This fic was inspired by Jon Bellion's song "Guillotine," as inspiration was not forthcoming with this. For the purposes of this fic, imagine this song as the one Kame is working on.
Kaminikaku: You seemed fairly flexible in your request, so I hope I did not take too many liberties! I tried to incorporate your likes in at least some small way. My apologies for it being a bit of a songfic, but inspiration fought me quite a bit with this. A few parts might also be a bit rushed/badly written, so I apologize.
I hope you like it! :D
Summary: Kame loses his head. Jin helps him find it again.

Title: Stuck in Limbo
Written for: haikuesque
Pairing: Kamenashi Kazuya/Akanishi Jin
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 25,400
Warnings: excessive pessimism and rudeness
Author's Notes: Dear Jo and Solo, I tried my best with your tropes. I could have gone for a crazier canon universe to challenge the more creative tropes and probably could have pulled them off too with a bit more time, but I hope you'll like your gift as it is. Enjoy!
Summary: In a universe where human values are measured by how high individuals rank in their social media outlets, where the quality of existence depends on an app that lets one rate another on a scale of one to five, where popularity defines everything and everyone, and where human relationships are shallower than ever, Jin and Kame both have lessons to learn. Inspired by Nosedive, a stimulating episode of Black Mirror.
